I am an angry white male, I don't like diversity. What diversity means to me is loss of jobs for me, I am a young college student studying engineering and I went into a job interview head to head with a african american, I was better qualified than him, I had foreign language skills, and a GPA .5 higher than his. I lost just because the company had a plethora of white and asian male engineers and needed a black engineer to showcase to the world that they "celebrate diversity". All I'm saying is I can sympathize with some right wing groups. I'm not an uneducated red neck, a psycho escaped from the pedententury, I'm just a voting polically active young white american male who is concerned and angry at what our country is becoming. Thank you for reading my viewpoint. :)

i can definitely see how that isn't very fair, but to put things in perspective, a lot of other folks have it a lot worse. 1/5 of all young african american males are in prison right now for bullshit nonviolent drug charges. you're just not getting the job you want.

while it's true that affirmative action isn't always fair, and might not even make sense all the time, it's a lot better than nothing. it's trying to address a real deep racial problem that nowadays is largely the fault of the criminal justice system. if you want fair job hiring practices, maybe you should support black folks in their efforts for self determination, and try to get racist law enforcement policies changed, racist police fired, and racist laws changed. then there might not be as much a need for affirmative action.
